Gone are the days where if you wanted to place a bet on the football, horses or dog racing you had to either pop into your local high-street bookmaker or indeed pop to the match or race it-self.

Don't get me wrong you can't beat going to the races or the match for fun and excitement of watching the event unfold live but using your local bookmaker isn't always the nicest experience. If you don't get the locals giving you the once over as you walk through the door you can have to watch the slots and roulette players cursing the machines as they invariably lose their hard earned cash.  Not to mention the ever more complicated betting slips you need to get right before placing your bet, not a problem if you are a regular but it can be daunting if you just pop in once in a blue moon.

Like many businesses bookmakers have had to evolve and move on-line and in so doing have made sports betting open to a whole new customer base. You can now bet from the comfort of your home on your computer or even from your mobile while watching the match down the pub.

Convenience is not the only benefit of being able to bet on-line though as a whole world of different betting options and sports are opened up for you to bet on. Of course you have all the usual suspects of Football, Horses, Dogs, Tennis, Golf and Rugby but also more unusual sports and events to bet on from chess all the way to the next Big Brother or X-Factor winner if that is your bag. You can do this all via a simple registration process and click of a mouse.

Earlier I mentioned watching the action live was one plus of betting before the advent of on-line gambling, Surprisingly you are via some of the bigger internet based bookmakers watch a lot of matches or races live through their websites once you have placed a bet so you can see the result of you bet happen on your computer screen. Not quite a substitute for being in the stand or at the side of the track but indeed a great feature if you choose to use it. This also opens up another on-line betting feature and that is pretty much exclusive to the internet and that is in-play betting. I'll go into more depth on this in a future post but in essence it allows you to bet while the match is going on and things such as goals happen and therefore change the pre match odds.

The idea of this blog is to introduce you to, if you like to have a gamble to what is available when betting on-line including reviews of the top features and bookmakers themselves.

What is important is that if you do choose to have a gamble is it should be fun and you should only gamble what you can afford whether that be in a betting shop or on-line.

Thanks for reading and please come back to check out future posts on the on-line gambling world.
